Teacher Dinners: We provide dinner for the teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences in the
fall and spring. We need help with any or all of the following: Preparing, serving, and cleanup.
Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week: Plan activities and recognition throughout the week. Help
with a luncheon and small gifts. Help room mothers with needs for each individual class.
Walk to School Day: Plan a simple activity to encourage students to walk to school.
Operation Safe Passage: This is in conjunction with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department.
Volunteers assist students when going to school and returning home. This is an ongoing program
throughout the year. Volunteers are not required to be on patrol everyday, just when they can or
while walking/driving children to and from school. Volunteers will have background checks. You
will be given ID and a vest to wear so that the children know that you are a safe person to
approach for help.
Junior Achievement: Help teach learning lessons during class time. Lesson material is provided.
Arts & Enrichment/Evening of the Arts: Activities for children to participate and share their
abilities and talents. We are working on programs and contests for our students to participate in
(Reflections is a PTA sponsored activity, as a PTO we need to sponsor our own program). If you
have ANY ideas, please contact us as soon as possible.
Dads and Donuts: We need help setting up, serving, and cleaning up that morning. We
would also love if there is any individual or business that would help out by donating
donuts.
Red/Green Ribbon Week: Plan activities throughout the week for anti-drug campaigns
(red ribbon) and safety campaigns (green ribbon).
Newsletter: Help collate, staple, and deliver newsletters to teachers boxes.
Boxtops, Ink Cartridges, Campbells Labels, Tyson Project A+: Help collect and submit
to the various companies.
Dominos, Papa Johns, & Chick-Fil-A Spirit Nights: Help to get advertising out and if
desired, plan activities to get more people to attend.
Harmon's Day: Help decorate and volunteer on our day (dependent upon our school
being chosen to participate).
Country Fair: This is our only fund raiser we have each year and we will need to raise
money to run our programs for the 2010-2011 school year. We need help with food,
games, baskets, and everything else.
Maturation: Schedule speakers for boys and girls program (school already has district
approved names, we just need to schedule the speaker and the date). Provide a
refreshment and small hygiene kit (provided through a company, we just need to
order) on those evenings.
T-Shirts: Help advertise, order and distribute t-shirts. There is still no decision on
whether we will have a t-shirt this year.
Extracurricular: Help plan and run any extracurricular activities. We currently have a
Science Club, but we would also like to have other clubs and activities available. For
example, foreign language clubs, chess clubs, etc. If you have any connections, ideas,
or desire to help start these programs please contact us as soon as possible so we can
start working on them.
Play/Musical: Help with props, rehearsals, costumes.......
